Residential carpet cleaning
Carpet cleaning planned around real Hong Kong homes, with their limited space, humid air, pets, and building rules.
Professional treatment for spills, pet urine and stubborn odours. We tell you honestly what is likely to come out before you pay for us to try.
Different stains call for different chemistry. A treatment that lifts coffee may do nothing for oil, and it can even set some stains in place. So the most useful thing you can tell us is what the stain is, and how old it is.

| Stain | What's involved | Outlook |
|---|---|---|
| Coffee, tea | Tannins, so usually an acidic rinse | Often good, unless old or treated with the wrong product |
| Red wine, juice | Natural dyes | Good when fresh, harder once set |
| Soy sauce, curry | Salts, oils and strong colours | Variable, as turmeric is stubborn |
| Cooking oil, grease | Needs a solvent or degreaser | Generally good |
| Pet urine | Salts, odour, and can damage dyes | Depends on depth and age |
| Vomit, blood | Protein, so avoid heat | Often good if treated cool |
| Ink, hair dye, nail varnish | Dyes and solvents | Often only partial |
| Bleach | Colour has been removed | Cannot be cleaned out |
Urine is the most common odour problem we hear about. The smell tends to return on humid days, since the salts left behind draw moisture from the air. Hong Kong's damp spring is when many people first notice an old accident.
A surface wipe or air freshener cannot fix this. What is needed depends on how deep it has gone:
Sometimes a stain vanishes, then reappears as the carpet dries. This is called wicking, when residue from deep in the pile rises to the surface with the moisture. It is usually fixable, so let us know if you see it.
A second type is resoiling, when a spot left sticky by soap or detergent attracts dirt. This is why we avoid leaving residue, and why too much household cleaner often makes things worse.
Bleach marks, burns and permanent dye damage cannot be removed by cleaning, because the fibre itself has changed. In those cases, your choices are a repair, replacement of the tile or section, or a well-placed piece of furniture.

Blot, do not rub. Lift off anything solid, then blot with a clean white cloth and a little cold water. Avoid colourful cloths, bleach and strong household cleaners, which can make the stain permanent.
Not necessarily. Many old stains improve a lot, though they are harder than fresh ones. Stains that have been treated with household products can be more difficult, so tell us what you have already tried.
Salts left by urine and some spills draw moisture from humid air, which reactivates the odour. Cleaning needs to remove those residues, not just cover the smell.
