Residential carpet cleaning in Hong Kong

Carpet cleaning planned around real Hong Kong homes, with their limited space, humid air, pets, and building rules.

Carpet in a Hong Kong home is a particular challenge

Flats here are compact, with fewer places for dust to go and limited airflow. Cooking oil travels further than you would think. Summers are long and damp, and many homes run air conditioning all day in closed rooms.

All of that ends up in the carpet. It also affects how we clean it, since a carpet that is left wet in a closed room can start to smell before it dries.

When people call us

  • The main walkway has gone grey and vacuuming no longer helps.
  • A pet has had accidents, and the smell returns on humid days.
  • Something got spilled, such as wine, coffee, soy sauce or children's paint.
  • You are moving. You want a fresh start, or you are preparing to hand a flat back. See our guide to carpet cleaning when moving flat.
  • Someone at home is bothered by dust, and you want to take better care of the carpet.

How we clean carpet at home

For most fitted synthetic carpet, we use hot water extraction, after thorough vacuuming and pre-treatment. Where drying could be a problem, or the carpet is sensitive to moisture, we may suggest a lower-moisture method.

Before anything else we check the fibre, whether colours are stable, and how it is fitted. Then we tell you what we plan to do.

What suits which carpet

Carpet Our usual approach
Nylon or polyester bedroom carpet Hot water extraction
Polypropylene carpet Extraction with extra attention to oily soil
Wool fitted carpet Controlled temperature and wool-appropriate products, with careful drying
Loose rugs Depends on the rug. See rug cleaning

What to expect on the day

We will vacuum, treat problem areas, clean, and set up airflow, then walk through the result with you. You can read the full process here.

To help us give you an accurate price, tell us about your floor, lift, parking and what furniture is in the room. Our price guide explains what affects the cost.

Drying in a flat

Good airflow is what matters most. Run the air conditioning or a dehumidifier, and keep the door open if you can. Open windows only when the air outside is dry, which in Hong Kong's spring it often is not.

Common questions

Do I need to empty the room?

No, but please clear small items, toys and anything fragile from the floor. Tell us about large furniture when you ask for a quote, and we will explain what we can do around it.

When can I walk on the carpet again?

Usually you can walk on it carefully in clean socks once we finish, but it stays damp for a while. We will give you an estimate based on your carpet and room.

Will cleaning remove the pet smell?

It depends how deep the urine has gone. If it has reached the underlay, surface cleaning will not be enough. See our stain and odour removal page for what is involved.
